3 PM - Panel Discussion

Following on from last year, we will have another panel discussion. Our topic for this year us exploring “Our Pride”. Discussion will explore what pride means to our panel, queer joy, performative activism, how we claim and reframe joy and pleasure as transgressive. Why we protest and should protest be fun? How do we keep ourselves well? and more.

Indie-folk artist Melanie Baker, hailing from the Lake District, isn’t afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve. Her direct and honest lyricism capture themes such as falling in and out of love, self-reflection and the anxieties of modern life.

Her captivating live set has been refined over years of performing and since playing her first solo gigs as a teenager, she has gone onto support the likes of dodie, Tessa Violet, Maisie Peters and Will Varley.

Her two self-released EPs "Dreamer" (2018) and "Broken" (2020) have organically amassed over a million streams on Spotify alone and received radio play from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1.

Reflecting on her songwriting process, Melanie says "I write about what I know and how I feel, if other people can relate to that then sharing those songs feels like an integral part of the process." At just 22 years old, Melanie’s fearless vulnerability allows her music to cut to the chase of raw and relatable human experiences.

12 PM - 4 PM - Anna Knight - Community Support & Resources for Attendees

We are delighted to have Anna Knight back with us this year but this time in a well-being capacity. Anna will offer trauma and well-being support for anyone who attends on the day. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need any support, Anna will be on hand to help. She will also have resources and advice for attendees.

Anna is a coach, trauma survivor and an activist. She supports people to move beyond their past experiences, breaking cycles of self-doubt and criticism to change their lives (and maybe even the world) with ease, authenticity and joy. As a queer, disabled survivor of domestic violence, she has experienced various forms of trauma and her coaching aims to support other people in their own journeys of recovery.

Her work is centred in the concept of ‘the audacious and’. So often, we see ourselves as a series of positives and negatives, leading to a complex calculation of our value and therefore what we can achieve. If we swap this approach for one that sees us as a series of ever expanding ‘ands’, we begin to see ourselves as limitless and then what we once saw as weaknesses and flaws become potential avenues for social revolution.
